Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has lamented the increasing attacks against civilians by Boko Haram in Maiduguri, Borno State. Atiku made this known in a statement over the weekend in reaction to a bomb attack that left more than 12 persons dead and many more injured. The ex-vice president described the attacks as “mind-boggling”. He equally expressed worry that the attacks have increased despite rumours of imminent ceasefire talks with the insurgent group. He called on the authorities to do more to end the violence in the North East, adding that “intelligence gathering and sharing by all security agencies is of the essence if we must stem the attacks with all its attendant loss to lives and property.”
